MEDAN (Waspada): BNI Asset Management (BNI AM) is participating in enlivening the Financial Inclusion Month (BIK) program initiated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in a “slightly different” way, namely by collaborating with Bibit, one of the fintech partners, to hold an investor gathering packaged in financial literacy and inclusion activities in Medan City on October 25-26, 2024.
The investor gathering event entitled “Bibit Roadshow Medan” presented Doddy Prayogo – Financial Content Creator “Doddy Bicara Investasi” and Yekti Dewanti Head of Investment & Research Division BNI AM in two events with different participant categories, namely October 25 for premium investors and October 26 for retail investors.
Around 60 Bibit Premium customers attended on Friday (25/10) night with the theme “Investment Strategies During Rate Cut Cycle & Economic Trends for 2025” and seemed enthusiastic about attending the event until the end. Meanwhile, dozens of retail investors from Bibit attended on Saturday (26/10) afternoon with the theme "The Key to Achieving Financial Freedom". Both events took place at the Grand Mercure Maha Cipta Medan Angkasa, one of the best hotels in Medan.
The hope for an improvement in the Indonesian economy after the formation of the Red and White Cabinet also colored the warm discussion that took place casually in the Amaryllis Room. Both Doddy and Wanti expressed similar views that many parties are hoping for an easing of deflation that has been going on for 5 consecutive months in Indonesia.
In addition to the domestic economy, the two speakers also discussed macroeconomics by reminding investors present to be aware of the impact of falling US interest rates, falling Chinese interest rates, the US election, and geopolitical conflicts.
As a solution to the ongoing turmoil both domestically and internationally, Yekti Dewanti appealed to investors to take anticipatory steps by diversifying their investments into mutual fund products with long-term investment horizons such as BNI-AM IDX-PEFINDO Prime Bank Index Mutual Funds Class R1, BNI-AM PEFINDO I- Grade Class R1, and BNI-AM SRI-KEHATI Class R1.
"These products are included in the family of index funds owned by BNI-AM and most of them are available on the BIBIT application. It should be noted that the preference for selecting Mutual Fund products must be adjusted to the risk profile of each investor," he said.
Meanwhile, Business Development Manager of PT Bibit Tumbuh Bersama, Febsa Ardiani, said that the activity held was in the context of financial literacy and education for the people of Medan City.
"We want to let them know that there are investments that can help their finances. So they are financially planned, they have planning, both for retirement, both to prepare for school education costs and so on," he said.
Febsa said, in Medan City, similar activities have been held several times and this time, in collaboration with BNI AM. "In the future, we will hold this roadshow event in several cities in Indonesia," he continued.
Head of Channel Distribution Division BNI Asset Management, Andri Tribowo on the same occasion said that through this collaboration, it is hoped that the community can be well educated.
"The target is for the community to be well educated, have good financial literacy, then they can enter Bibit inclusion. What the speakers convey can be conveyed, then they can build a personal portfolio," he said.
On this occasion, BNI-AM & Bibit encouraged the Medan community to be more active in managing their finances, to be literate in investing in the capital market, especially BNI-AM Mutual Funds by using the BIBIT application. By increasing public awareness of digitalization services, it is hoped that the community will be more enthusiastic about investing in BNI-AM products through the BIBIT Application.
This educational activity is in line with the OJK's National Financial Intelligence Movement (Gencarkan) program which is expected to become a routine annual agenda with the aim of improving the financial literacy of the younger generation. With better literacy, the public is expected to be able to make the right financial decisions and avoid financial crimes that have been increasingly rampant lately. (m31)
